XIV April International Academic Conference on

Economic and Social Development

 

On April 2-5, 2013, the XIV HSE April International Aca­demic Conference on Economic and Social Development was hosted by the National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE) with support of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. The Conference Program Committee was chaired by Professor Evgeny Yasin.

The plenary sessions of the Conference featured senior Russian Government officials including representatives of the Presidential Administration, high-level representatives of the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, and the CEOs of several of the largest Russian and international companies. 

Special issues being focused on at the Conference included 'The Global Economic Crisis and the Russian Economy' and 'Institutions and New Social Policy'. The plenary sessions, including selected honorary papers, sessions, and round tables, were devoted to these issues.

After the plenary sessions, over subsequent days, parallel sessions and round tables on the problems of economic and social development were held. Within the conference, a special session was organized in which results obtained by HSE international research laboratories were presented. Sessions and round tables focused on the following issues:

The papers presented the results of original research carried out with modern research methodology. 

The working languages of the Conference were Russian and English; simultaneous translation was available during all plenary and most parallel sessions.
