HSE University Names Official Academic Journal Partners for XXVI April Conference

The Programme Committee of the XXVI April International Academic Conference named after Evgeny Yasin (April Conference) has determined which academic journals will be designated as partners for the Conference. Traditionally, this step has been a milestone event in the run-up to the April Conference, the 26th iteration of which will take place at HSE University’s Moscow campus on April 14–17, 2026. The best conference reports will be selected for publication after undergoing the standard peer-review process.

Altogether, 30 leading publications—the flagship periodicals of Russian science—have been selected as official journal partners. All designated journals meet the requirements set by the Higher Attestation Commission under the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation (known by the Russian abbreviation “VAK”), while the overwhelming majority of them are included in the VAK List of Peer-Reviewed Academic Journals. Many of the partner journals hold leading positions in the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI). Taken together, they represent a wide range of scientific institutions and cover various topics, and include both national-level journals and HSE University’s own top publications on diverse topics, thus highlighting the truly interdisciplinary nature of the April Conference.

Among the partner publications are some of Russia’s pre-eminent economics journals, such as Problems in Economics (Voprosy Ekonomiki) (the RSCI’s top-ranked economics journal), Journal of the New Economic Association ( Zhurnal Novoi Ekonomicheskoi Assotsiatsii), ECO Journal (Vsyerossiyskiy Ekonomicheskiy Zhurnal EKO), and Economy of Regions (Ekonomika Regiona). One partner journal falls into a special category all of its own: the Russian Journal of Money and Finance (Dengi i Credit), the official bilingual scholarly quarterly of the Bank of Russia (Central Bank of the Russian Federation).

Also listed among the designated April Conference partners is the distinguished journal Automation and Telemechanics (Avtomatika i Telemekhanika), published since 1965 under the auspices of the Department of Energy, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanics and Control Processes of the V.A. Trapeznikov Institute of Control Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS).

Additionally, the Conference’s partner journals feature a broad representation of publications covering such fields as Political Science, Sociology, Management, and Interdisciplinary Studies. Another prominent partner publication is Russia in Global Affairs (Rossiya v Globalnoi Politike), a journal that upholds the highest scholarly standards while covering a diverse scope of academic genres: from thought-provoking opinion pieces by leading public intellectuals to academic articles that help better understand the rapidly changing landscape of world affairs.

A significant portion of the partner journals are indexed in authoritative international citation databases and ranking systems, including Scopus and Web of Science (WoS), and enjoy leading positions at the Q1–Q3 level across various topical categories.

The April Conference’s partnership with these academic journals opens up the advantageous possibility for the authors of reports included in the Conference programme to be selected for publication in Russia’s most prestigious and distinguished academic journals, which enjoy international recognition.

The April Conference has partnered with leading academic journals since 2020. The partner journals themselves retain the prerogative to select the authors whose work they will publish. The practice of partnering with journals was introduced as an added value factor for report presenters, who enjoy the opportunity to pilot test their research results on the Conference platform. Over the past five years, the partner journal system has proven its effectiveness, with the number of partners growing from 22 to 30, while the number of reports published has steadily increased. Moreover, the partnership has grown beyond the formally agreed framework to become a key driver of cooperative efforts realized through the Conference platform. The XXV April Conference in 2025 featured the first-ever mini-exhibition of partner journals, where Conference participants could obtain printed copies of journals and engage directly with representatives of their editorial boards.

The formal designation of the latest pool of partner journals in the run-up to the XXVI April Conference marks a continuation of this highly productive tradition, helping to build a solid bridge leading from the lively academic discussion of critical concepts and innovative ideas to their manifestation and widespread dissemination on the pages of the most authoritative academic publications.
