The application request
The application request should include the speaker’s name, place of work and position, as well as the contact address, phone and fax numbers, e-mail and the title of the proposed report.
A detailed summary of the proposed presentation should be attached to the application, in Word or RTF format, between 1 and 3 typewritten pages in length with spacing 1.5, and up to 7000 symbols. The summary should outline the topic, show the level of the research, include characteristics of the research (theoretical or empirical type of the work, its informational base), as well as its main results. Applications which do not contain the main theses of the presentation or which are less than 1 page in length will not be accepted. Applicants can also indicate whether they are willing to participate in a symposium on one of the conference’s special topics.
In addition to individual requests, group applications can be submitted for the organization of a group session. The application should include:

title of the event;

description of the idea of the session (up to 1 page);

topics of the reports (max. 3 or 4) and their summaries, 1 to 3 typewritten pages in length with spacing 1.5 (up to 7000 symbols for every summary);

name, place of work and position, contact address, phone and fax numbers, and e-mail of the event leader, as well as every proposed speaker and discussant.
If you would like to present a report at the conference, it should contain the results of original scientific research. The duration of a report presentation at a session is 15 to 20 min. As a rule, the average speech at a roundtable lasts from 5 to 7 min.
At the group sessions we plan to discuss the results of some original research, conducted with the latest methodology, regarding the problems of social and economic development.
Group applications which do not comply with the above requirements will not be accepted. Taking into consideration the results of the applications’ expertise, the Programme Committee reserves the right to include selected reports from the group applications into the conference programme.The duration of a session is 1.5 hours.
The deadline for group applications is November 16th, 2009.The Programme Committee will give its decision on the inclusion of reports and group applications into the conference programme prior to January 20th, 2010.
The decision will be made by a panel of independent experts. Authors of the reports included in the conference programme are asked to send full versions of their report (up to 20 000 symbols with spaces, in Word, RTF or PDF format) prior to February 15th 2010 for publication on the conference website.
Final versions of the reports should be submitted prior to May 15th 2010. The decision on their publication in the conference papers will be made by the editorial board after review.Participants from the CIS and Baltic states who are invited to present their reports may receive a grant from the Moscow Office of the World Bank for reimbursement of costs relating to participation in the conference.
